Route to Respite is honored to be featured in the May 2026 issue of Neighbors of Saucon & Center Valley Magazine. The story, “From Pain to Purpose: The Cofield Family’s Route to Respite,” shares how Steven and Leah Cofield turned their experiences with trauma, hardship, and service into a mission of healing and connection through Route to Respite.

The article follows the Cofields’ journey from their early years together and missionary work across the U.S. and abroad to founding Route to Respite in 2020. Guided by the belief that healing happens through safe connection, the organization provides trauma-informed counseling, holistic support, workshops, and welcoming spaces for individuals and families.

The feature also shares the Cofields’ heart for serving others through mental health advocacy, honest conversations, and meaningful community experiences. Their efforts include restoring a barn property into a gathering space designed for healing, support, and connection.

Today, Route to Respite continues to walk alongside children, teens, and adults facing trauma, emotional challenges, and life transitions by creating spaces centered on restoration, wellness, and hope.

“We really wouldn’t be here without God and our community,” said Leah and Steve Cofield, Co-Founders of Route to Respite. “This journey has been carried by the support, generosity, and belief of the people around us. Because of them, we’re able to continue showing up and providing the care and comfort that so many individuals need.”

The story concludes by emphasizing the heart behind the organization’s mission: helping people feel seen, supported, and reminded that they do not have to walk through life alone. Through every event, conversation, and act of service, the Cofield family continues building a place where people can pause, heal, and reconnect.

The May issue of Neighbors of Saucon and Center Valley is now available, highlighting individuals and organizations, like the Cofield's, who are making a meaningful and lasting impact in the community.

Established in the Lehigh Valley, Route to Respite serves the surrounding community by providing compassionate, accessible support for people going through difficult periods. Whether someone is dealing with chronic stress, working through grief, or simply feeling emotionally stretched, the intention is to offer a space where healing can take root and be sustained over time.
